Video Database For Research

The Video Database for Research (VD4R) is a web-based video repository for use in research and education. VD4R is designed to help researchers find and use high quality video content for their studies. The project offers video search functionality and the ability to download video clips and metadata.

VD4R is a joint project between the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSM). It is supported by the National Science Foundation’s National Big Data Research and Development Initiative (NSF BIGDATA-1032259).

NCSU Libraries’ Research Guides provide a general overview of the resources and services available to students, faculty and staff at North Carolina State University.

The North Carolina Central University Library subscribes to many databases that students, faculty and staff can use.

The following is a list of databases that are available:

EBSCOhost – Search for journal articles, magazines, newspapers and more. This database has a number of subject specific indexes. Other resources include full-text dissertations and theses (from 1949-present), eBooks and audiobooks.

JSTOR – Articles from academic journals across all disciplines. Full-text documents from journal articles from 1877 through 2000 are available. All other titles are available back to 1985, with some even earlier. In addition, users have access to the full text of over 1,000 eBooks in subjects such as history, science & technology, social sciences, language arts & humanities and business & economics.

OvidSP – A comprehensive collection of medical information including journals, reference works, charts & illustrations and patient education materials such as brochures and booklets designed to help patients make informed decisions about their health care options. Users can search all OvidSP content or limit their searches by medical specialty or condition category or by keywords in titles or abstracts only.

An international business research database that covers publications from academic, commercial, and company sources worldwide. Coverage includes journals, magazines, trade reports and conference proceedings with full text covering management and marketing topics. ABI/Inform Complete is updated daily.

EBSCOhost – an index of articles from thousands of journals, magazines, newspapers and other sources. The NCU Library subscribes to many EBSCOhost databases.

Gale Virtual Reference Library – a collection of articles from hundreds of journals, magazines, and newspapers. The NCU Library subscribes to many Gale Virtual Reference Library databases.

ABI/INFORM: Business and industry research tool with more than 5,000 full-text journals from publishers such as Information Today, Inc., ProQuest and Reed Elsevier.

Academic Search Premier: Full-text access to thousands of scholarly journals including the arts, humanities and social sciences.

America’s GenealogyBank: Free access to genealogical records on CD-ROM and microfilm. You can search this database by surname or by location.

ArtLex Art Dictionary: A dictionary of art terms in English, French, German and Spanish with over 2,000 illustrations and images.

AskERIC Library Catalogs: Includes over 1 million bibliographic records covering education resources from over 4,000 U.S.-based educational organizations. Use this database to find books, articles and other media on education topics such as bullying prevention programs; educational leadership; gifted education; school reform efforts; student achievement issues or teaching methods that work!
