Update Php WordPress Cpanel

Want to know how to update your PHP version in WordPress? It’s simple! In this article I’ll explain how to update the PHP version on your server, and how to use the WP-CLI tool to do it.

I’m going to assume that you already have a WordPress site installed on your server, or have access to one. If not, please read our article about setting up a free website with WordPress.

If you’re using HostGator, Bluehost or any other shared hosting provider, you should be able to change the PHP version by going into cPanel and changing the option called “PHP Version”. You can find this under “Software”. You’ll see that there are many different versions of PHP available for you to choose from. This list will vary depending on the software installed on your server (i.e., Apache 2 or Nginx). The most common versions are 7 (the default), 5.3 and 5.4, so those are usually good options to choose from if you don’t know what version you’re currently using. Make sure that when you’re choosing a new version of PHP, it’s compatible with Apache 2 (or whatever other software is installed on your server).

If you are using a shared hosting, you can use this tutorial to change PHP version in your WordPress.org site hosted at HostGator.
