Materials

Step 1: Lay down the plywood boards and frame the sides of the bench with them. Make sure you have enough room for your legs to fit between each board. The more leg room, the better!

Step 2: Put down another layer of plywood boards on top of your first layer, but offset them so they don’t line up with the first layer’s joints exactly. This will give your bench more strength as well as make it look more natural when you stain it later on in this project!

Step 3: Use 4×4 posts to connect each side together at its corners by using lag bolts or screws (depending on what type of wood you’re using). You can use either 2x4s or 2x6s depending on how big you want your outdoor concrete bench to be (or how much weight it needs to support).

You can also use pre-cast concrete footings instead of digging your own holes if you prefer a more professional look. These come in different sizes so make sure to measure your area where you plan on placing them before ordering them online or at your local hardware store.

Next, set your 4x4x8 footings into place according to where they will be positioned in relation to each other (you can use stakes and string lines) then level each one with a carpenter’s level before pouring

DIY Outdoor Concrete Bench

I have had this old bench for years and it was in bad shape. It is made of concrete and has a wrought iron base. I thought it would be a great project to redo.

This is the before picture, it was beat up and dirty.

The first step was to remove all the old paint with a wire brush, then I used a power sander to get rid of any rough edges.

The next step was to give it a good cleaning and seal the entire bench with some kind of sealer/paint that would protect the outside from water damage and UV rays.

After letting it dry for about 24 hours, I started applying some plain concrete stucco mix (you can find this at any home improvement store) to create the look I wanted on top of the bench. This step took several coats until I got it looking how I wanted it. I also added some extra concrete into my mixes so that my bench didn’t look too flat or boring

If you have the right tools and materials, this project should take you about two hours.

The first thing you need to do is decide on your design. You can make your bench any size or shape that fits your needs and space. We chose this square design because it’s easy to build, looks good from all angles and will fit into tight spaces.

To get started, use a level and pencil to mark out where each layer of concrete will go. Make sure that each layer is straight and level so that the top layer will be flush with the bottom layer once they are all connected together.

Now it’s time to mix up your concrete! You can buy ready-mix concrete at most hardware stores, but we like using our own homemade mixture made from 1 part sand and 2 parts gravel (or pea gravel). Just mix these ingredients together thoroughly in a large bucket or wheelbarrow with water until they are completely dissolved into each other — don

Concrete is an excellent choice for outdoor furniture because it’s durable and low-maintenance. It doesn’t need to be painted or stained and it’s extremely hardwearing, so it will last for many years without needing any attention at all.

The main disadvantage of concrete is that it’s heavy, which is why this project requires some planning and careful construction. Concrete needs to cure before it can be walked on, so you’ll need to build the bench off-site and move it into place once it has dried out completely (see below).
