The type of material used for construction also affects how much a particular garage costs. For example, if you want a brick or block wall instead of vinyl siding, this will increase the price of your project.

The roof is also framed with 2×4 rafters spaced at 16″. The door is hinged on a barn-door track with a spring-loaded latch, so the door can be opened easily by one person. We used 1/2″ T&G plywood sheathing on the exterior and 7/16″ OSB sheathing on the interior walls. The roof was built with 1/2″ plywood sheathing and the floor was framed with 3/4″ plywood. We installed 2×6 pressure treated deck boards between the joists in both directions for added strength and rigidity (this also makes it easier to clean out any snow accumulation).
