Under-stairs storage is the answer to all your clutter problems, but if you’ve got a narrow staircase, fitting one can be tricky. Here’s how to make a door for under stairs.

The first step is to decide on the size of the door and whether or not you want it to open outwards or inwards. Then measure the width of your staircase (or at least one step) and add 5cm (2in). This will allow room for a frame around the edge of the door.

The frame should be made from plywood, which is strong enough yet light enough to be easily manoeuvred up and down stairs; pine works well here. Cut the frame pieces to size and then mark out where each one goes on the plywood sheet using a ruler or template cut from cardboard: draw two parallel lines 3cm (1¼in) apart across one side of the sheet, then mark out along them as shown on page 1, including an extra 7mm (¼in) lip at each end of each line so that no gaps show when it’s fitted back together again later. If possible use a jigsaw or circular saw with fine blade for this

This is a guide about building a door for under stairs.

I have built a door for our son’s room under the stairs, by using some scrap wood and hinges. I have attached some photos. It looks great and is so much better than having the stairway open to his room.

I used 2x4s and 4x4s for the frame of the door, and 1/2 inch plywood for the door itself. The dimensions are 48 x 96″, including the frame. I cut the plywood into three pieces: two pieces at 44 x 12″ (the top and bottom) and one piece at 44 x 84″. There was a gap between each panel so that there would be no seams where they met up when we put them together; this made it easier to paint after we were done.

My husband installed hinges on each side of the door frame so that it would open inwards; this allows us to keep it closed without locking it. Then we added handles on each side of the door so that we could easily open it from either side of the house; this also helps keep it closed at night since my son can’t reach over far enough to shut it himself yet!

Kitchen utensils – The under stair area is another great place for kitchen utensils like spatulas, ladles, tongs and more! These tools tend to take up quite a bit of space if left out in your kitchen so storing them underneath may be just what you need to clear some counter space up top!

Bathroom supplies – Bathroom supplies such as shampoo bottles or other toiletries can easily find their way under stairs if they’re not already there already! It’s also a great place to keep
