Boeing Company is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois and is the largest manufacturer of airplanes and space systems in the world. When Boeing Company was founded in 1916 by William E. Boeing, they just produced 100 planes a year. As time went on and a lot of new employees came in, they started producing 400 airplanes a year. Now, as of right now (2016), no one really knows how many airplanes Boeing Company produces other than the employees and CEO of the company, but it’s more than their previous number. And with more employees comes an increase in housing. This is something very important when it comes to moving from place to place. These are something that’s were key to having a great company before we stepped into an era of technology.

The company also provides leasing and product support services. Boeing is among the largest global aircraft manufacturers; it is the second-largest defense contractor in the world based on 2012 revenue, and is the largest exporter in the United States by dollar value.
The Boeing Everett Factory, also known as Building 2, is the largest building in the world by volume at over 13.5 million cubic meters (516 million ft³). It is located in Everett, Washington, at the Paine Field industrial complex.
Boeing has been building airplanes and other products in this facility since 1943. The employees at this factory assemble all Boeing commercial airplanes such as 737s and 757s. They also are responsible for final assembly on the 747-8F and 747-8I freighters.
The first building was completed in 1940 but was destroyed by fire on February 3, 1942. A replacement building was completed that same year at a cost of $1 million ($14 million today). This second building was then destroyed by fire on June 1, 1944; it was replaced by a third building that cost $3 million ($35 million today). In 1951 Boeing added another wing to their factory which brought the total square footage to 1 million sq ft (93,000 m2). In 1956 they expanded again with another wing which brought total square feet to 2.4 million sq ft (220,000 m2). In 1960 they added another wing bringing total square feet to 4
The Boeing Everett Factory is the world’s largest building by volume. At 1,320,000 sq ft (120,000 m2) and 4.5 million square feet of manufacturing space, it can produce two 747s per month.
The plant covers 2,800 acres (11 km2) of land and is home to approximately 20,000 employees. The factory produces the 747-8 Freighter and the 747-8 Intercontinental passenger plane.
The factory was built in 1967 to produce the 747 airplane line. The first aircraft produced there was a 747-100 model on September 30, 1968. The first 747-200 was completed in 1969 and delivered to Eastern Air Lines as N601FE on March 9th 1970.[1]
In 1989, Boeing added a 10-acre (4 ha) extension to the Everett site by filling in part of Port Gardner Bay.[2]

In 2004, the factory’s production peaked at 42 planes per month;[2] its highest employment was 31,591 people in 2006.[3]
The factory covers 350 acres (141 ha) and has 4.3 million square feet (390,000 m2) of floor space.[4] The factory currently manufactures the 747-8 Intercontinental,[5] 767,[6][7][8][9] 777,[10][11][12][13] 787 Dreamliner,[14][15][16][17] and 747-8F freighter aircraft.[18]

The building cost $4.5 billion to build and was completed in 2002.
It takes two days just to walk around the building once — at a leisurely pace!
The building has been dubbed “the Box” by locals, who refer to it as such because it’s so big and rectangular in shape.

Boeing has been making airplanes in Everett since 1942, when it produced about 50 planes a year for World War II. Today, Boeing makes about 740 planes a year at its 777X facility alone.
The company has been working on ways to improve efficiency in its factories for years. It’s implemented new manufacturing processes that make it possible to build more parts per shift than ever before. This boosts productivity while reducing waste and improving quality control, according to Boeing spokesman Doug Alder.
“We’re learning how to build airplanes better,” Alder said. “It’s an ongoing process.”
