Why https is important for seo

The new Google algorithm that came out this week hit websites using http as a part of their organic traffic almost double. Unfortunately a lot of sites, some even bigger than mine, were hit by it hard. Some of them did not even know about the update and the switch to the secure https for securing your website was never done.

At Yoast, we think https is important; so much so that we’re making it a 2015 priority to only release plugins that support https. Why are we doing this? What is https anyway and what’s the big deal with SSL? In this article, I’ll try to explain why https is important, why https is required, why SSL is important, how you can enable it on your website, and what problems you can run into if you don’t.

Why https is important for seo

Why https is important for seo

You might be wondering what is SEO? Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine’s “natural” or un-paid (“organic”) search results.

The importance of seo for websites is that it helps in getting traffic to your website and also helps you rank higher on search engines like google, yahoo and bing. If you have a website that has good content but does not have any backlinks then it will not be able to rank high on search engines. You can get help from seo services companies who can help you improve your website’s ranking.

What Is The Importance Of https

https:// is an encrypted version of http:// that communicates with SSL/TLS protocol. It protects data from being stolen by hackers or others who want to steal information from you through your browser. When you visit an https:// site, your browser will show a padlock icon in the address bar which indicates that the site uses https configuration.

Why HTTPS Is Important

1) Privacy: 2) Security: 3) Trust

Search engine optimization (SEO) is a process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines via the “natural” or un-paid (“algorithmic”) results.

In other words, we can say that SEO is about creating and publishing content on the internet that search engines like Google will rank faster than others in their search engine result pages (SERPs).

Why Is SEO Important

SEO is important because it helps get your website ranked higher in search engines. More traffic to your site means more business for you. It is also important because most people use search engines to find what they are looking for online. You can take advantage of this by optimizing your website for specific keywords so when people type those words in their search bar, your website appears first in their results.

What Is The Importance Of HTTPS

HTTPS stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure and it’s used by all major browsers (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari) to ensure that sites are secure and not tampered with by third parties.

The SSL certificate is a digital certificate that does not only encrypt the data but also confirms the identity of your website. It is said to be one of the most important factors in search engine optimization (SEO) because it helps in improving your ranking on Google and other search engines.

The more secure your website is, the better it will perform in terms of SEO.

Highlighting the importance of SSL certificates, we have listed some reasons below:

1. HTTPS is required by Google: Google has made it clear that HTTPS is a ranking signal for them and they will give a boost if your site has an SSL certificate installed.

2. HTTPS helps prevent data theft: The main advantage of securing your website with an SSL certificate is that it prevents any malicious person from stealing sensitive information such as credit card numbers or passwords while they are being transferred over the Internet. The hacker can intercept this data while it travels between browsers, servers, etc., but with an SSL-encrypted connection being used on your site, there won’t be any chance for anyone to steal this data from you.

3. HTTPS provides better user experience: Your visitors will feel safe when using a secure website which makes them feel confident about providing their personal details like credit cards numbers or passwords

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine’s unpaid results—often referred to as “natural,” “organic,” or “earned” results. This includes different ways of improving the ranking of websites in search engines and increasing the number of visitors to those websites.

SEO is an effective way to increase traffic to your website (and thus, your business), but it’s not enough on its own. Google has been steadily increasing their focus on security over the past few years, and so has Microsoft with Bing. In fact, Google has declared that HTTPS will be a ranking signal for mobile search in 2018. What does this mean? It means that if your site isn’t secure with HTTPS, you may be at risk for losing traffic from Google searches — potentially a lot!

What is HTTPS

HTTPS is a secure version of HTTP, the protocol over which data is sent between your browser and the websites you visit. When you use HTTPS, your browser and the website establish a secure connection by using SSL/TLS (Secure Sockets Layer/Transport Layer Security). This means that all communication between your browser and the website is encrypted.

Why Should I Use HTTPS

There are several reasons why you might want to use HTTPS rather than plain HTTP:

Security: The most important reason for using HTTPS is security. All communications between your computer and a website protected by SSL or TLS are encrypted, preventing anyone else from reading them — whether they be hackers trying to steal your personal information or corporations mining for data about what pages you visit to sell it on to third parties.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Google’s official position on using HTTPS as a ranking signal is that “we have no plans to use it as a signal in ranking.” However, Google’s John Mueller has stated that “it sounds like something we may or may not do in the future.” In other words, don’t rely on this being a ranking factor today but it’s still worth doing if possible because it could become one in the future.

The reasons why https is important for SEO and your website

1. Search engines love HTTPS

2. HTTPS improves your site’s security

3. HTTPS improves user experience with your site

4. HTTPS is required for many eCommerce platforms like Shopify and BigCommerce

5. HTTPS helps fight against censorship and surveillance.
