Twitter has been a great way for us to connect with like-minded WordPress bloggers and for our readers to connect with us. With that said, we have been experimenting a bit with “adding” new followers because it can sometimes be quite time-consuming.

To access the Twitter API, you must have a Twitter developer account. You can sign up for an account at https://apps.twitter.com/app/new.
Getting started with Twitter is easy. Simply go to https://dev.twitter.com/ and then sign up for a new account.
In order to use the Twitter API, you need some credentials from Twitter. These are:
Consumer Key – This is a username that identifies your application to Twitter’s servers. It looks like “1234567890”. This is used by Twitter on their server side and does not need to be kept secret.
Consumer Secret – This is an app-specific password that is used to authenticate requests from your app against the Twitter servers. It looks like “abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz”. Keep this secret! Make sure you never share it with anyone else! You can generate one by clicking on the “Generate” button next to Consumer Key in the above table or by entering them into the oAuth dialog box when you connect your application’s user interface with Salesforce.
Access Token – This is what allows us to access the user’s account data on his behalf (i.e., post tweets on his behalf). It looks like “1234567890.

After creating your developer account, you will receive a consumer key and consumer secret from Twitter. You can use these keys to authenticate requests to the API by adding them as parameters in the request URL:

If you are using a Twitter Developer account, you can use the following steps to obtain your consumer key and consumer secret.
1. Go to https://apps.twitter.com/ and login with your Twitter account.
2. Click on ‘Create a new application’, enter a name for your app and click on ‘Create application’. You’ll be taken to the next page which will show you the required details of your app. Copy the Consumer Key (API Key) and Consumer Secret (API Secret) values from this page into the appropriate fields in Salesforce as shown below:

The next step is to set up a CURL request in Salesforce which will provide us with an access token and an access token secret that we can use as part of our Salesforce Twitter feed when we’re building out our custom object in Salesforce. The example code below shows how you can make a CURL request with your consumer key & consumer secret credentials along with an OAuth Verifier (which is returned by Twitter when you first register your app).
In order to create a Twitter application, you will need a Twitter developer account. You can sign up for one here. You will have to enter your name and an email address (which is the only information that is needed).
Once you have created an app on Twitter, you will be given two tokens:
Consumer Key: This is your consumer key which you can find in the left sidebar of the application’s settings page. It looks like “8n2o2Q6kYNHc9YzMx8UvSIZUhiCw”.
Consumer Secret: This is your consumer secret which looks like “sD1XqZXsTllT7xrI1RmEwCeQP4O7i0kA4”. It is also located in the left sidebar on the application’s settings page.
A twitter developer account is required to use the Twitter API.
The first step is to create a Twitter application. Once you’ve created your application, you’ll be given a consumer key and secret, which are used to authenticate applications when making requests to the Twitter API. The consumer key and consumer secret can be found in the “Keys and Access Tokens” section of your app settings.
Once you have your consumer key and consumer secret, you can access the Salesforce Twitter Streams App on the AppExchange (https://developer.twitter.com/apps/). This App will allow you to make authenticated calls to the Twitter API by including your consumer key and consumer secret in the request header.

To use Twitter’s API, you must first create a developer account. You can do this at https://apps.twitter.com/. This will give you access to the Twitter API documentation, as well as other resources that can help you build your apps.

Once you have a developer account, you can go to https://apps.twitter.com/ and generate a new access token for each user in Salesforce who needs access to Twitter data by following the steps below:
1- Log into your Twitter account (https://apps.twitter.com/) and click “Create an Access Token” on the left-hand side of the screen.
2- In the “Create an Access Token” dialog box, select “Read and Write” permissions for the token and click “Create.”
