Tutorials Theme For WordPress

The most basic form of installing a WordPress theme is by downloading the theme file and uploading it to your server. This is called installing a theme from a zip file.

1) Find The Theme You Want

The first thing you need to do is find the theme you want. Not all themes are free, but there are lots of great ones that are.

2) Download The Theme

Once you’ve found the perfect theme for your site, download it from the website where you found it. If the theme is hosted on WordPress.org, then there will be a button on their page that says “Download” which will bring up another window with options for downloading zip files or directly accessing them via FTP:

3) Extract The Files From The Zip Archive

Next, extract all of the files from the zip archive into your computer using an archiving utility like WinZip or WinRAR (both free). If you don’t have one of these programs installed on your computer already then I recommend downloading 7-Zip instead as it works equally well with both PC and Mac systems and has many more features than either WinZip or WinRAR

If you have already downloaded a theme and need help installing it, follow these simple steps:

1) Decide where you want your new theme located. Usually this is the wp-content/themes folder, but it may be something different depending on your hosting company. 2) Unzip (if necessary) and upload your chosen theme’s files into the directory you selected in step 1 above (wp-content/themes).

3) Log into your WordPress admin area and go to Appearance > Themes > Install Themes > Upload (if necessary). Select your newly uploaded zip file and click Install Now.

How to Install a WordPress Theme from Zip

There are two ways to install a new theme. The first way is to upload the zip file directly from your computer. The second way is to use a theme installer plugin like the popular WP All Import.

1) Upload the Zip File Manually

If you’re not using a plugin like WP All Import, then you’ll need to upload the zip file manually using an FTP client like FileZilla.

1) Download or create your theme zip file (this will typically be in your downloads folder).

2) Open up your FTP program and connect it to your website’s root directory (wherever you installed WordPress). There should be a separate FTP user account created when you installed WordPress — make sure you go into that account and not the administrator account.

3) Once connected, click on “Upload” in FileZilla and find your zip file on your computer. Drag it over into FileZilla and wait for it to upload (this may take some time depending on how big your theme is — especially if it uses lots of images).
