VMware Horizon 8 is the latest release of VMware’s enterprise software that enables users to access virtual desktops and applications from any device. Horizon 8 is based on VMware ESXi 6.7 and vCenter Server 6.7, which were released in March 2019.

The latest version of Horizon Client is available for download from VMware (see Related topics).

Horizon 8 installation requires approximately 4 GB of disk space for the software, plus additional space for customizations and logs. The installer does not provide an option to install only client components; all features must be installed on each node in your Horizon environment.

Horizon 8 also includes a new feature called Application Pools, which allows you to group multiple applications with separate security policies into one pool.
