The Definitive Guide to Keyword Research for SEO

The ultimate guide to keyword research for SEO. Learn about the best tools, how to do keyword research and how to put your keywords into action.

There are many different ways to start keyword research for SEO. Some of them are good, others are not so good. In this article I will share with you some of my favorite keyword research tools and methods that have worked well for me and my clients over the years.

Let us start with the basic: What is a Keyword?

A keyword is simply a word or phrase that describes one or more topics related to your business or website. When someone searches for a topic on Google, Bing or Yahoo! they may use keywords as part of their search query.

The most important thing you can do for your SEO is to research the keywords that people use when they search for your products and services.

Keywords are what Google and other search engines use to match your page with relevant search results. The higher the number of searches for a keyword, the more likely it is that people will click on your site when they see it in search results.

Keywords are also important because they help you understand what people want from your business. If someone searches for “cheap shoes”, they probably aren’t interested in buying designer shoes from a store – but they might be interested in buying second-hand shoes or getting a good deal on a new pair.

The keyword research tools listed below will help you find valuable keywords that have high search volumes (and therefore lots of traffic) and low competition (so you can rank well for them).

The purpose of keyword research is to identify the best keywords to target.

Keywords are used to search for content on Google and other search engines.

When you have the right keywords, your content will be found by those who are searching for it.

Keywords should be relevant to your website, but also long-tail. Long-tail keywords are phrases that include 3 or more words in a row, whereas short-tail keywords typically only include 2 words in a row.

Here are some great tools for keyword research:

1. Google Keyword Planner – This is the most popular tool used by marketers and website owners to find out which keywords people are using when searching for something on Google (or any other search engine). It’s free and easy to use! Just enter your website URL and hit submit!

There are a lot of tools that you can use to perform keyword research.

Google Keyword Planner is probably the most popular one and has a free version. You can get access to the paid version by creating an AdWords account.

Yoast Keyword Research is another great tool for keyword research. It’s more than just a simple Google Keyword Planner alternative, as it also provides additional information such as search volume trends and competition levels.

SEO Research Tool is another great tool that helps you find long-tail keywords with low competition levels and high search volumes. It also allows you to see how your competitors are ranking for certain keywords, which is useful if you want to target similar keywords but don’t want to use their exact same phrases.

Ahrefs Keyword Explorer is another powerful tool that helps you find low competition long-tail keywords with high search volumes. You can also use their Site Explorer feature to see how other sites are ranking for certain keywords, which will help inform your decisions on what types of content to create or whether or not it makes sense for you to target them at all

Keyword research is the most important step in any SEO campaign. If you don’t have the right keywords, then your content is going to fail. You can write the best article in the world, but if it’s not based on a keyword that people are searching for, then it’s going to be useless.

So here are my go-to resources for keyword research:

Google Keyword Planner (https://adwords.google.com/ko/KeywordPlanner) – This is Google’s tool for finding popular keywords and estimating their monthly search volume. It’s usually pretty accurate and gives you an idea of what terms people are looking for in your niche.

Yoast Keyword Research (https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/) – Yoast SEO is a plugin that helps you optimize your blog posts so they rank better on Google searches. It also provides a bunch of useful tools like this one which will help you find more relevant keywords for your posts.

Backlinko is a great resource for keyword research. It includes a database of all of the most popular keywords in Google, as well as their search volume, competition level and how much money they’re making.

The keyword research tools above are great for getting an idea of what keywords you should target, but Backlinko shows you exactly how many people are searching for those terms on Google.

If you want to make sure that your blog posts are ranking for a specific keyword, it’s important to know how many people are actually searching for it already.

Keyword research is the foundation of your SEO strategy. It’s what you use to guide your content creation efforts and determine which keywords to target for specific pages on your website.

Keyword research can be done manually, but it’s a lot easier (and more accurate) to use keyword tools instead. This post will teach you how to do keyword research using the two best free tools: Ahrefs and SEMRush.

Google Keyword Planner

The Google Keyword Planner is one of the most popular keyword research tools in existence because it’s free and easy to use. However, there are some limitations that make it less useful than Ahrefs or SEMRush:

You can only look at keywords with 100 or more monthly searches

Only U.S.-based traffic counts toward your estimated search volume estimate

You have to sign up for an AdWords account in order for Google to show you any data whatsoever

If you’re an experienced SEO, none of these limitations should be deal breakers for you — especially since Ahrefs and SEMRush offer similar features for free as well.
