Here are five things that you may not know about The Rise of the Resistance:
1. Construction began in January 2018, and the attraction took more than 600 days to build.
2. There is more than 5,200 feet (1 mile) of track on the ride — enough to stretch across the entire Magic Kingdom Park!
3. More than 1,500 speakers have been installed for sound effects and music on The Rise of the Resistance. That’s more speakers than any other Walt Disney World attraction!
4 The new attraction features over 100 animatronics, including 20 speaking characters from Star Wars films and TV shows, such as Admiral Ackbar from Return of the Jedi and Admiral Raddus from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. These characters interact with guests throughout the adventure, telling their own stories as they help guide riders through their mission to save the Resistance fleet from Kylo Ren and his First Order forces.
5 The Rise of the Resistance ride cost $50 million to build. The ride is based on the Rogue One movie and takes place after the Death Star is destroyed.
The ride is set in a battle between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire.
The ride takes you through scenes from Rogue One, including Darth Vader’s castle on Mustafar, Princess Leia’s ship being boarded by stormtroopers, an encounter with Krennic and Jyn Erso’s fight with Imperial forces on Jedha.
In addition to the ride itself, there is an interactive experience called Project Morpheus that lets you play as a Rebel pilot defending the fleet from a Star Destroyer attack.
The Rise of the Resistance attraction at Walt Disney World’s Galaxy’s Edge is an immersive experience that is part of the larger Battle Escape attraction. It features a pre-show area with actors and props, a main show room, and a post-show area.
The pre-show area features a briefing by Admiral Gial Ackbar and his crew. In this scene you will find yourself in a briefing room on board Admiral Ackbar’s ship where you will learn about the First Order and their plans to destroy the Resistance. During this scene you will be placed into groups of four and given your roles in this mission. This is where guests are separated into teams of Rebels and First Order soldiers (firing blasters during the final battle).
The main show room features two walkways down which Stormtroopers will march towards you as they try to escape from the Resistance. At one point during this walkway portion there is a large holographic projection that shows Kylo Ren speaking about his hatred for his father Han Solo, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Yoda (from Star Wars: Episode VI). RISE OF THE RESISTANCE is the long-awaited new ride at Disney’s California Adventure. The attraction takes guests on a journey through a post-apocalyptic world where robots have overthrown humanity.
The attraction combines a number of different technologies to create an immersive experience for guests. The ride vehicles are equipped with screens that display animation in sync with the action inside and outside of the vehicle. Guests will also encounter projection mapping, scent technology and other special effects that add to their experience.
The attraction features six different tracks which combine to form two different experiences: one where riders join forces with a resistance against an evil robot army, and another where they become part of the robot army themselves. Each track has unique elements that make it distinct from the others, but all feature high-speed thrills and special effects galore!
The Rise of the Resistance ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which opened in April, is a new storyline in the long-running “Star Wars” saga. It’s set in the days following the destruction of Starkiller Base in “The Force Awakens.”
The story begins with guests boarding a troop transport ship for an urgent mission to Jedha, a desert planet that’s home to several ancient Jedi temples. The goal is to find vital information about the Death Star from the Rebel Alliance.
Once you arrive on Jedha, you get to meet Saw Gerrera and his daughter Jyn Erso, who appeared in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” They are leading a resistance group against Imperial occupation. Your mission is to infiltrate an Imperial base and steal plans for a new weapon — the Death Star.
As you leave your transport ship and walk toward Imperial headquarters, you see stormtroopers patrolling streets lined with buildings damaged by recent battles with rebels and rogue droids (who have been reprogrammed by Saw Gerrera). You also see some familiar faces — including Admiral Ackbar, who helps guide your team through this dangerous environment
Disney’s California Adventure park is the original Disney theme park in Anaheim, California. It was built next door to Disneyland, which opened on July 17, 1955. The park opened in 2001 as part of a major expansion of the Disneyland Resort. It is dedicated to California history and reflects many aspects of the culture, including entertainment, sports and transportation.
The construction of the park began in 1998 with an estimated cost of $1 billion and was scheduled to open in 2000. Several delays occurred over the next three years before it opened on February 8, 2001, one day after its original target date.
