This is a door latch for a Kawasaki Mule. It fits the left side of the mule. The part number is 38501-1405. This is the same part that goes in my 2007 KAWASAKI MULE 1000 4X4 (EFI) with a 4 cylinder engine. The door latch came with new rubber bushings, but I didn’t need them because the ones in my mule were still good. The part came from J.C Whitney for $12 plus shipping.

The Kawasaki Mule SX is a dual-purpose utility vehicle that can be used as a work truck, a recreational vehicle or even a four-wheeler. The Mule SX has hard doors that can be removed with the use of a few simple tools.
Removing and replacing the door hinge on your Mule SX requires removing the existing hinges, installing the new hinges and then reinstalling the hinges in their original positions.
Remove the Door Latch Cover
1 Examine your door latch cover. It will have two holes just above where it meets the door frame. Insert an Allen wrench into one of these holes, and turn it counterclockwise until it comes out of its hole. Repeat this process with the other hole as well.
2 Remove the two screws that hold down each side of your door latch cover. Once they are removed, pull out both sides of your door latch cover until they come off completely from their hinges, exposing two small metal rods under each side of your door latch cover’s former position.
