Craftsman style homes have bell shaped arches at the top that create an oversized recessed interior space. The underside of an overhead Craftsman deck is a bit ugly. It reveals the large wooden sheathing and a series of cross bracing making a dentil shelf. This inspired me to design a small shelf that could be added to either side of doors or other woodwork throughout the home.
