Quad9 runs on top of 9 different major name servers around the world, which makes it fast and stable for virtually any device. Quad9 also blocks malicious sites by default, which is something that other DNS services do not do by default (but you can do manually).
For those who want to use Cloudflare DNS, the recommended settings are:

Cloudflare DNS is a privacy-focused DNS service that can also speed up your internet connection and protect you against DDoS attacks. It’s available in more than 80 countries, so it’s a great choice if you’re traveling or want to access geo-locked content.
Cloudflare offers two different types of DNS services: 1) Free and 2) Paid Plus. The free version is more limited than the paid one, but it still provides value to users who just want basic protection from phishing sites and other threats.
The paid plan costs $20 per month for up to 100 domains, $50 per month for up to 500 domains, and $100 per month for up to 1 million domains. Each level allows you to use your own domain name or set up custom subdomains instead of using cloudflare’s subdomains (e.g., webinars4me instead of www.webinars4me).

It can be difficult to find the best DNS server considering there are so many options out there, but we’ve done some research and come up with a few of our favorite options below.

Cloudflare’s DNS servers are some of the fastest available. In fact, they’re so fast that they were able to set a new record for the Internet’s largest distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS). Cloudflare’s high-performance network (HPN) allows them to handle these attacks with ease. It also prevents you from getting caught up in one yourself by offering protection against DDoS attacks for free! The only downside is that this protection only works for IPv4 addresses (not IPv6), but if you’re using IPv4 it’s worth giving Cloudflare’s DNS servers a shot.
