The only president to die in office after serving only 31 days was William Henry Harrison. He was the ninth President of the United States and served just one month and two days before his death on April 4, 1841. Harrison’s death is commonly believed to be caused by pneumonia he contracted while delivering a long speech during an unusually cold day on March 4th, 1841. However, some historians believe he may have actually been poisoned by his opponents (the Whig Party).
