Frameless glass shower doors are made of clear safety glass that’s framed by metal or plastic tracks. The frame can be either fixed or sliding. Sliding frame styles are more common because they allow for easy cleaning and maintenance. Fixed frames are less expensive but require more installation work because the track is built into the wall with tile or mortar. Both types of frameless shower doors are made to fit various size openings to accommodate your walk-in or standard shower enclosure.
Shower Door Tracks
The tracks on which the door travels are made of stainless steel or aluminum and can be installed inside or outside of your wall depending on whether you want your door recessed into the wall or protruding out from it (see illustration). Most frameless shower doors come with a pre-installed track system that allows you to install the door yourself in about 30 minutes. If you’re not comfortable doing this yourself there are plenty of handymen who will install your new frameless shower door for around $100-$200 depending on its size and complexity –

When it comes to replacing your shower door, there are many factors that will affect the final price tag. For example:
The size of the existing opening – if there is any space between the walls and flooring in your bathroom this may be able to be used but if not it may have to be enlarged by removing some of the tiles or tiling over them which involves removing some of the tilework and replacing it in order to make room for the new shower enclosure (this is not as easy as it sounds).
The type of wall materials being used – different materials require different methods of installation such as cement, plasterboard etc.

Replacing a damaged glass shower door is often a simpler task than replacing the entire frame. While the process can vary depending on the manufacturer, most replacement glass shower doors come as one large piece or several smaller sections that fit together like puzzle pieces.
Replacing a broken or foggy shower door can be done in less than 30 minutes. Before starting any project, review the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure you have all of the right tools and parts to complete the job.
Step 1 – Remove Old Glass Shower Door
1. Prepare your workspace by covering any exposed surfaces with newspaper or drop cloths. Covering your work space will help prevent any accidental damage from stray tools or dropped pieces during installation.
2. Remove existing hardware from the door frame by unscrewing any type of fasteners such as screws, bolts or clips that hold it in place. If possible, disconnect electric wiring from shower fixtures before removing any hardware components so that they don’t get caught on anything while removing them from their original spot.
3. Carefully lift out old glass shower door using two hands and set aside on top of newspaper or drop cloths to avoid damaging new replacement glass shower doors as you remove them from packaging later on in this project
There are many different types of glass shower doors, such as:
frameless glass shower doors
glass shower enclosures
sliding glass shower doors
glazed sliding shower doors
When you need a new shower door, consider replacing the glass in your existing frame. Replacing the glass is less expensive than replacing an entire shower door, and it can be done in as little as 30 minutes. The first step is to remove the old shower door from its track.
Remove the old shower door from its track. Either use a screwdriver to loosen the screws that hold the bottom brackets to the wall and slide them off, or undo the screws that hold each bracket in place with a screwdriver and lift the bracket out of its hole. Remove any remaining hardware from inside the shower stall, such as handles or hinges, after removing all screws that secure them to the wall or door.
Remove any caulking around the perimeter of your shower door using a utility knife or razor blade scraper. This will allow you to see where there are gaps between your new glass panels and walls so you can fill them before installing your new glass panels. Use silicone caulk to fill any gaps between your new glass panels and walls; allow it to dry completely before proceeding further with installation.
Screw one end of a length of 1/4″ x 2-1/2″ lag bolt into each side of an aluminum angle bracket
Our shower doors are available with either a standard glass thickness of 3/8″ or 1/2″. The 3/8″ standard glass thickness offers the best in energy efficiency, while the 1/2″ thick glass is much more durable and scratch resistant. We offer a variety of glass types to choose from including Low Iron Glass, Thermal Insulated Glass and Clear Glass.
Clear Glass
Clear glass is just that – clear. It allows light to pass through it and offers no privacy or security. It is often used in showers where there is no need for privacy or security such as a guest bathroom shower or children’s bathtub. Clear glass can also be used on an exterior entry door where visibility through the door is required but privacy isn’t necessary as well as on inside entry doors where privacy isn’t necessary but visibility is desired (such as a door leading into your kitchen from your garage).
