Building a decent AR10 is not as difficult as it sounds. The only things you need are a good upper receiver, barrel, bolt carrier group and charging handle. The upper receiver is the part that holds all the other parts together. You can get them in different colors and styles. The barrel is what your rounds go through before they hit their target. If you have a good barrel, it will increase the accuracy of your gun and make it more effective in combat. The bolt carrier group contains the firing pin which strikes the cartridge primer when you pull the trigger. It also contains a few other parts like springs and pins that keep everything working properly. Finally, there is the charging handle which allows you to charge your weapon by pulling it back like you would on an old musket or rifle from long ago.
Cost of building a decent
The AR10 is a popular rifle that has been used for long-range shooting, hunting and self defense. The AR10 can be built from parts kits or purchased as a complete rifle. Building an AR10 will typically cost less than purchasing one pre-assembled, but it requires some gunsmithing knowledge to assemble the weapon properly.
A complete AR10 upper receiver costs anywhere from $500 to $1,000 depending on the manufacturer. A lower receiver can cost as little as $50 or go up to $200 if you want something more high-end like Palmetto State Armory or Aero Precision. The rest of your parts can be found on sites like Gunbroker and eBay for less than $200 total if you’re looking for cheap surplus parts.
The trickiest part about assembling an AR10 is finding quality barrels that are compatible with DPMS pattern rifles. Some manufacturers have proprietary barrels that only work with their own uppers, so it’s important to research what brands will fit your specific upper receiver before buying anything else.
Once you have all of your components together, you’ll need to put them together and test fire them before they’re ready to use in competition or hunting situations
this is the gun that I put together. Its pretty much a standard ar10 with a few upgrades.
I got the palmetto state armory upper, lower and pistol grip. Everything else was bought on gunbroker and amazon.
I got the Aero Precision free float hand guard, Magpul MOE stock and Magpul Moe trigger guard. I also got a magpul front vertical grip and an eotech 512 sight.
The total cost of this build was $1400.
The cost of building a decent AR10 is going to be a lot more than the cost of building a decent AR15.
The upper receiver is going to be the most expensive component. There are several companies that make them but Palmetto State Armory and Aero Precision have been my favorite. The other part of the upper that you need to consider is the barrel. Barrels can be as cheap as $125 or as expensive as $500+ depending on what you want them for.
Lower parts kits are pretty cheap and easy to find, but there are some good brands like Palmetto State Armory and Bravo Company Manufacturing (BCM). Magpul makes some really great stocks that can be found at many retailers including Amazon (although they do sell out quickly).
You don’t really need any special tools or equipment; just some basic hand tools like screwdrivers and hammers will work fine here.
I’m in the market for a new AR10 and have been doing some research. I’ve seen here and there that the best option is to build your own, but I don’t know anything about how to go about that.
The parts/components I’m looking at are as follows:
