Using Firebase Database With React

Firebase is a mobile and web application development platform that provides tools for developers to build applications. Firebase has many features, including authentication, cloud messaging, database and hosting, remote configuration, and integrations with other Google services. Firebase was acquired by Google in 2014.

Firebase offers a free tier of its service with certain limitations on the number of simultaneous connections and data storage space. The full range of features is available only with paid plans.

Firebase includes a NoSQL database service called Firestore, which is used to store information on the client-side. In this article, we’ll be building an app that uses Firestore as its backend database. This will let us store any data we want without having to worry about scaling our servers or worrying about server maintenance.

Using Firebase Database With React

Firebase is a real-time database that is used to store data.

In this tutorial, we are going to learn how to connect Firebase Real-Time Database to React application using Hooks and also how to get data from Firebase Real-Time Database in React application.

You can also read a previous article on Firebase Realtime Database with React Hooks:

Firebase Realtime Database With React Hooks

In this article, we will see how to use Firebase Realtime Database with React.

To connect Firebase Database to React app, we will be using the Firebase SDK for React Native.

This tutorial is written in context of react-native v0.59+. If you are using an older version of react-native then please refer to this guide.

We will be building a simple app that fetches realtime data from the Firebase database and displays it on screen. To make things more interesting, we will be adding a feature to delete an item from the list by clicking on it.

React Firebase Hooks

Firebase is one of the most popular and powerful backend services for web and mobile applications. In this tutorial, you will learn how to use Firebase with React, and how to build a React app with Firebase authentication.

To get started with Firebase, you need to sign up and create a new project in the console. Once you have signed up, click on Get Started button. Then select Create New Project, enter your project name and hit Create Project button.

Once your project is created, you will see the following screen in your dashboard:

Now let’s install Firebase CLI tool on our machine using NPM package manager. Open Terminal window on Mac or Linux machine or Command Prompt in Windows and run following command:

npm install -g firebase-tools

Getting Started with Firebase Realtime Database

Firebase is a mobile and web application development platform that provides cloud services and tools to build high-quality apps. It includes real-time database, storage, authentication, analytics and more.

The Firebase Realtime Database is a cloud-hosted database. It is automatically synchronized with all connected clients in real time. The following are some of the features of the Firebase Realtime Database:

It’s an open source database built for the modern web: fast, easy to use, scalable and simple to integrate with other services.

It’s a NoSQL database that stores data in objects and allows you to fetch them using JSON queries.

How to Build a TodoApp using ReactJS and Firebase

Each object can have multiple data fields attached to it, which makes it easy for you to store complex data like images or videos in addition to simpler values like strings or numbers.

Firebase Realtime Database is a cloud-hosted NoSQL database. It provides a simple, consistent way to store and sync data across clients in realtime.

Firebase is supported by a wide range of client platforms, including web browsers, iOS, Android, and Unity.

Firebase features include:

Realtime Database – Persisted and replicated data structure that allows developers to store their data in the cloud.

Authentication – Provides secure user authentication via email and password login, social login using Google Sign-In, Facebook Login or Twitter Sign-In.

Cloud Storage – Provides secure file uploads and downloads for your app’s user content.

Hosting – Lets you deploy apps with ease and scale them dynamically as needed.

Firebase Realtime Database is a cloud-hosted database. It provides a solution to store and sync data in realtime. In this tutorial, I am going to show you how to use Firebase Realtime Database with ReactJS.

This is the most basic way to connect Firebase Database with ReactJS. In this example, we will be using Firebase Hooks API because it makes it easier to handle state changes in our components.

Let’s start by creating a new React project using create-react-app command:

$ create-react-app react_firebase_hooks

Now, let’s install Firebase and Firebase CLI tools:

$ npm i firebase@^7.1.0 –save

In this tutorial, we are going to see how to use react firebase realtime database. We will be using react hooks and firebase database.

In this example, we are going to create a simple blog application where users can write posts and comment on them. The entire data will be stored in the firebase realtime database.

The complete code for this example can be found here: https://github.com/narenarya/react-firebase-example

React Firebase Realtime Database Example

In this tutorial, we will learn how to use the realtime database in firebase. In this example, we will create a simple app that allows users to add their name, gender and age. This data will be stored in the firebase database and displayed on the UI.

To use the realtime database, you need to install an npm package named firebase/firebase-browser with the following command:

npm install firebase-browser –save

In this tutorial, I am going to show you how to use React and Firebase together. We will create a simple chat app using React Hooks and Firebase Realtime Database.

Let us first understand what is React Hooks. React Hooks are a new feature of React that allows us to use state and other features of React without writing classes or creating components. If you want to learn more about hooks, then you can check out my previous article on React Hooks:

Before we start building our chat application, let me set up a new project by initializing it with create-react-app, which is a tool used for creating new projects in React.

npm install -g create-react-app

Create a new project using create-react-app in your terminal:

create-react-app reacthookscode

Change directory into the newly created project:

React Firebase is a library that makes it easy to use Firebase in your React app. It uses the react-firebase library to wrap Firebase SDKs and make them available in your React application.

You can use React Firebase just like any other JavaScript module. If you’re using a module bundler such as Browserify or Webpack, you can import it like this:

import { fireBase } from ‘react-firebase’;

If you’re not using a module bundler, you can download the library directly from Github and include it in your HTML page:

React Firebase provides two types of hooks, useState and useEffect.
