The average home size has risen greatly over the past years. The average price of a one-story house is around $170,000 and that price continues to rise consistently. With this being said, the overall cost has risen substantially. I’m going to break this post down into two sections; what it takes to build a two-story home and a comparison of how much it costs to live in a one-story home versus living in a two-story home.

It depends on the size of the house, type of construction and location.

Here at BGL, we have a wide range of clients from commercial builders to first time home buyers. We have had the opportunity to work on both large and small projects, and we found that there are many factors that affect the cost per square foot to build a house.

The first thing to consider is the number of bedrooms and bathrooms in your new home. The more bedrooms and bathrooms you want, the higher your costs will be. If you’re planning on having a large family or hosting parties every weekend, then this is something important to think about before starting your project.

Another factor that affects how much it will cost to build a house is whether or not you’re building on an existing foundation or if you’re building from scratch with no previous structure on the property. If you’re building on an existing foundation and adding more rooms onto an existing structure, then this will save money but add more time onto your project because you’ll need to do extra work such as electrical wiring throughout your property as well as plumbing work which can be very expensive if done incorrectly by someone inexperienced in these areas of construction work.

Does it cost more to build a one or two story house

The cost of building a two-story house is higher than the cost of building a one-story house. The reason for this is that there are more materials required to build a two-story house, and also more labor involved.

A two-story house requires foundation beams that are much heavier than those required for a smaller, one-story structure. This means that more steel needs to be used in order to support the weight of the building materials. In addition, most two-story homes have stairs leading up to the second floor. These staircases require additional wood and other materials in order to create them.

There are some cases where it’s actually cheaper to build a two-story home than it would be to build one story home with an attic space above it instead of an upstairs room. For example, if you live in an area where there aren’t many trees and you’re not worried about insulation issues, then it may be cheaper for you to build an attic space rather than adding a full second story onto your house because the costs associated with adding insulation into your attic would likely outweigh the cost of adding another room onto your home (this is assuming you don’t already have enough insulation in your walls).
