Make sure that your domain record has been added to cPanel using DNS Manager or through our API. If it has not been added, then add it now.

In this section, you can configure your server to accept incoming mail. If you want to use your own mail server, you can configure it in the Mail section of WHM’s Tweak Settings interface (Home >> Server Configuration >> Tweak Settings). To edit the settings for a cPanel account’s mail server, click the Edit Mail Server button.

This will open the Edit Account: [email protected] screen where you can choose one of three options:

Send Mail Through Another Server – If you select this option, then all outgoing mail will be sent through another mail server. This option is useful if you have an existing mail server that you would like to use instead of our default mail servers.

Run Exim as User Other than Root – When this option is selected, all outgoing and incoming email will be processed by Exim (a mail transfer agent) as the user that owns your site instead of root . If you do not enable this option, then Exim will run as root . This can cause problems if you have permissions set up incorrectly because users cannot write files outside their home directories by default. However, if you enable this option when using our default configuration then all email will be processed correctly without any changes required to.

cPanel is a web-based control panel that allows you to configure your hosting account. It is used by many web hosting companies, including our own.

In this article we will show you how to set up your cPanel email server in order to send and receive emails.

To begin, log in to your cPanel account and select the Mail section from the left menu. Once there you should see a list of options for configuring your email accounts (Figure 1).

You can choose from any of these options:

Imap4 — This setting is used for incoming mail only and does not allow outgoing mail. This is the default setting for most users since it requires less configuration than other protocols.

POP3 — This setting is only used for incoming mail, not outgoing mail. This protocol does not require much configuration because it works with most email clients automatically. However, some providers may disable POP3 access on their servers so check before using this protocol if you plan on using an external application such as Thunderbird or Outlook Express.

Sendmail — Sendmail allows you to send outgoing emails through an external application such as Microsoft Outlook or Thunderbird; however this method is not recommended because it requires additional configuration which may cause problems with your other applications when they fail.

WHM Server Configuration

To configure your server, you can use WHM’s main interface, or its command line interface. To access the main interface, log in to WHM and select the Home tab.

To access the command line interface (CLI), select the Advanced tab, then choose Command Line Interface from the Services section.

You can also use WHM’s graphical interface to configure cPanel & WHM services.
