The stadium is expected to open by 2020.
The Raiders and the NFL have agreed to move the team from Oakland to Las Vegas, but there’s still a lot of work to do before that happens. Among other things, the team needs to find a place to play while its new $1.9 billion stadium is being built in Las Vegas — and it needs to figure out how much it will cost taxpayers there.
In a statement issued on Monday afternoon, Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval said he had reached an agreement with team owner Mark Davis on funding for a new stadium in Las Vegas that would keep the Raiders in town through at least 2046. The deal calls for $750 million in hotel tax revenue to be used towards construction costs and another $650 million from private sources — though those funds could come from either Davis or other investors. The state budgeted $750 million for infrastructure improvements around the new stadium site as part of a larger economic development package; that money will now be used for other projects instead.
The Raiders are moving to Las Vegas in 2020, but they won’t be playing in their new stadium until 2022.
The team’s new $1.8 billion stadium is being built with a lot of private money, but it will also get help from taxpayers. The city of Las Vegas is giving $750 million in funding through a tax on hotels and casinos, which is similar to the funding mechanism used for other stadiums around the country.
Construction on the stadium began in March 2017 and is expected to be completed by 2021. The Raiders will play their first season at UNLV’s Sam Boyd Stadium before moving into their permanent home in 2022.

Allegiant Stadium is the home of the Las Vegas Locomotives and UNLV Rebels football team. The stadium was built in 1999 and is a part of the much larger Sam Boyd Stadium Complex which also includes Sam Boyd Stadium, The Thomas & Mack Center, and Cox Pavilion.
In 2012, Allegiant Air announced plans to build a privately financed $200 million domed stadium on the campus of UNLV. The company had been looking for a new home for its NFL exhibition games since 2009 when the Oakland Raiders returned to Oakland from Las Vegas. Allegiant Air CEO Maurice Gallagher said he expects to break ground on the stadium in early 2013 with construction expected to be completed by 2015.

The Las Vegas Raiders are building the most expensive NFL stadium in history, but the team’s owners aren’t footing the bill.
The Raiders are spending $1.8 billion on their new home at the Las Vegas Stadium site. That includes $750 million from the public through various tax increases and funding mechanisms, as well as $750 million from team owner Mark Davis.
The project is being funded by a 0.15 percent increase in Clark County’s sales tax rate, which will raise about $1.5 billion over 30 years. Another $750 million is coming from a hotel room tax increase of 1 percent that will run for another 25 years and generate about $350 million annually for the stadium project. And a parking lot across from McCarran International Airport will be turned into a public park, which will be paid for by Clark County using money from its general fund and also funded by an increase in property taxes on businesses located near this area that generates about $30 million per year (this would be an increase of about 1 percent). The entire project is expected to cost about $2 billion total once it’s completed in 2020 or 2021; some of that cost may be offset by federal tax breaks if they’re granted before then (more on this later).
Allegiant Stadium is a 30,000-seat sports stadium located at the southeast end of the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. It is currently home to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) football team and the Las Vegas Locomotives of the United Football League.
The stadium was originally built in 1971 as the Las Vegas Stadium and has since been renamed several times. It was renamed Sam Boyd Stadium on July 1, 2002, after Sam Boyd’s death. In November 2005, it was renamed again following a $1 million donation from Allegiant Air to honor company founder Jim Click. The naming rights deal expired in November 2011 and as of January 2012 no new sponsor has been announced. As such it has reverted to its original name of Las Vegas Stadium.
