Chili powder is a spice made from dried chilies. It is used in the cooking of many different cultures, but especially in Mexican and Indian cuisine.
Chili powder is usually a mixture of spices, including cumin and coriander seeds, red pepper flakes, garlic powder and oregano. The color of chili powder varies from light brown to dark red. Chili powder can be added to soups and stews for flavor, or sprinkled on top of other dishes for added heat.
Chili powder is used to make chili con carne and other types of chili sauce. It can also be used when making homemade barbecue sauce or hot sauce.

1/4 cup mango, cut into small pieces
1/2 cup watermelon, cut into small pieces
1 tbsp lemon juice (optional)
Mexican Fruit Cup
Serves 4-6
Ingredients:
1 cup pineapple chunks
1 cup mango chunks
1 cup cantaloupe chunks
1 cup seedless watermelon chunks
1/2 cup strawberries, halved lengthwise and quartered if large
2 tablespoons chamoy sauce (see note)
Mexican Fruit Salad
Ingredients:
20 strawberries
1 kiwi, peeled and sliced into rounds
2 bananas, sliced into rounds (or you can use just one banana)
1/2 cup of cantaloupe or honeydew melon cut into cubes (I used cantaloupe)
1/4 cup of pineapple chunks (canned or fresh) – I used canned pineapple chunks because it’s easier to find in my area. You can use fresh pineapple if you want but it will probably be more expensive than canned. I also didn’t have fresh pineapple at home so I opted for canned pineapple chunks instead.
2 tablespoons of chamoy sauce (recipe below) – You can also use any other fruit jam or chutney such as apricot jam, mango chutney or strawberry jam etc… The more chamoy you add the spicier it will taste since chamoy has a sweet-sour-spicy taste to it. If you’re using another fruit jam then just add less than 2 tablespoons because you don’t want your salad to be too spicy/sweet/sour as that might overpower the other flavors in your salad.
